Biography
 
Who is Joi C. Spencer?
 
Joi C. Spencer is a Lifestyle Coach, Mentor, Public Speaker & Author that desires to motivate and  help individuals with a second chance to enJoi life.
 
Joi's philosophy is Never Give up!!   I believe when you help 1 person you are
a caring person.  When you help 5  to 10 people you are a giving person and when you help 20 to 30 people you love helping people; however when you
give of yourself to help 1000's  of people you are a caring, giving and loving person that wants to change people lives.
 
Joi is the mother of one darling daughter, and the youngest of seven female siblings with one being deceased.  Her mother is a strong phenomenal Christian woman that exudes strength, wisdom, determination and the reason for my existence.  I would like to humbly thank all the strong positive females in my life that have given me an example to follow and to guide my daughter in the right direction and give guidance to the other wonderful women I encounter.  These women not only talk the talk, they walk the walk......    
 
I can't go a step further without thanking the magnificent man of my life, my dad.  I thank God for him being in my life and being a Christian man and an Evangelist. I thank my dad for my creative abilities, being open-minded, easy to communicate with about anything.  His male point of view helps me see things in a different manner and adds a sense of balance to my life.
 
Joi attended Oakland University from 1984-1987 concentration  in Business Management & Minor in Communications. While attending Oakland University Joi became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.,  Nu Phi Chapter in April of 1986.
 
In 1993 to 1998 Joi volunteered her time in a 3- hour  mentor program  twice a month sponsored by First of America Bank at Fitzgerald Elementary School, grades  K-8th in Detroit helping youths with reading and mathematics.
 
From 1999-2001 Joi mentored young girls that were placed in the Salvation Army Group Home on the the west side of Detroit and she mentored other young girls while in the FIA assisted living program. Joi encouraged these young girls to complete high school and to continue their education by attending college and getting a job to become a productive adult and citizen and not to rely on state assistance programs.
 
Joi received her Bachelors of Science in Business Management from
University of Phoenix in 2001.
 
Since 2000 to 2009 Joi has donated clothing to Genesis House and other
adult care facilities for women battling to overcome domestic abuse.
 
While attending Brown's Chapel in Detroit Michigan from 1997-2003 where
the late Reverend F.R. Brown was the Pastor, Joi was the Sunday School teacher for girls ages 5 to 13 from 2001- 2003. 
 
From 1986-1998 Joi worked in the Banking Industry where she developed her financial skill set in positions as a Teller, Customer Service Representative,
& Loss Prevention Clerk.
 
From 1998-Present Joi has worked in the Automotive Industry in the capacity
of Engineering Coordinator, IT Regression Tester, Trainer, Data Analyst,
Credit Analyst & currently an Auditor for a Sub Prime Lender.
 
Joi has always been health conscious and participated in a  1/2 Marathon
for the Heart & Stroke Association in Phoenix Arizona in 2006, finishing
time 3:43:45.
 
April 23, 2011 Joi completed her new members courses after becoming a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where
Reverend David L. Roberson is the Pastor and the 1st Lady is Reverend Catherine Roberson.
 
Announcement of Joi began training for the Free Press 1/2 Marathon
(13.1 miles) that will take place Sunday, October 16, 2011.
My goal is to endure the race and to complete it with a faster finishing
time than five years ago.  I'm not a competitive person, but a
compassionate person. Finishing time for Detroit Free Press Talmer 1/2 Marathon is 2:44:27
